This cabinet card of Tess Bridges came from the Pryor-Hogue Album which apparently belonged to William and Martha Pryor Hogue of Graves County. Kentucky Death Records show that Tess was born on 11 Oct 1856 in Trigg County, Kentucky and died on 14 Nov 1948 at the age of 92 years of age in McCracken County.
In the 1860 census, 4 year old Tess appears to be the female child listed as "T" Bridges recorded in the household of J. C. Bridges in Trigg County. Her mother's given name isn't listed, only the initial "M". This couple is probably James C. Bridges who married Mary Cohoon, daughter of Archibald and Charity Cohoon, in Trigg County in October of 1855. FindaGrave has a listing of the death of 29 year old James C. Bridges on April 30, 1863 and there are no further census records of this family.
It is unknown whether Tess was related to the Pryor family but in the 1880 census of Graves County, she is found living in the home of H. C. and Louanna Pryor Allison. She was single and her occupation was listed as "cook"; however, she doesn't appear to have been a servant to the Allisons. In later census, Tess is always recorded living in the home of the family of Lola Allison Mankin which continues to create the impression that she was related to H. C. or Louanna Pryor Allison.
